WASHINGTON, DC. October, 2005 –The Helping Our Heroes Foundation is celebrating its
first anniversary! Legally incorporated in October of 2004 at the request of the United States Army,
HOHF has had a busy twelve months:
- Hosting a Holiday Party at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) and providing
gifts for over 300 patients and their children receiving treatment
- Providing over 200 round-trip airline tickets for wounded service members
and their families
- Sending over 75 shipments of donated foods to the combat support hospitals
in Iraq and Afghanistan
- Hosting the first "Hire a Hero" Career Night to employ wounded
soldiers after their military career is completed
- Hosting a monthly party at WRAMC for all of the OIF and OEF patients
- Taking patients from WRAMC to local baseball games and other entertainment
venues
- Taking patients from WRAMC to the 2005 inaugural galas in Washington DC
- Providing financial grants and assistance to over 100 families at WRAMC
- Sponsoring "Nurses Week" at WRAMC and providing gifts for over
1,000 nurses
- Organizing transportation to the Weekly dinners at Fran O'Brien's for WRAMC
patients
- Providing back-to-school supplies for over 150 children of patients at WRAMC
- Participating in the creation of a "Life Strategies Library" at
WRAMC
The Helping Our Heroes Foundation Board of Directors extends their gratitude to all the donors
and volunteers who provided the funds and assistance to make these wonderful things happen for
our wounded military this past year.
